The City of Indio is located in the beautiful Coachella Valley, in the eastern part of Riverside County, approximately 120 miles southeast of Los Angeles. The city limits measure approximately 27 square miles with a resident population of approximately 61,000 people. The City of Indio Police Department employs approximately 61 sworn officers, 44 civilian employees, with an additional 50+ volunteers. The Indio Police Department has been very active in Community Oriented Policing since 1994. The Indio Police Department is responsible for services associated with enforcement of local, state and federal statutes, public safety, and order maintenance activities on a daily basis, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The basic and most essential responsibilities of the Indio Police Department are to protect life and property through various methods and programs.
