The Morgan Hill Police Department has enjoyed a reputation of being an innovative organization offering services with a community-oriented, problem-solving approach to policing. In recent years we have concentrated our efforts on rapid emergency response, safety for our youth, anti-gang enforcement, and maintaining low violent-crime rates in our community. The Police Department also coordinates the City Office of Emergency Services to prepare for and deal with natural disasters, and manages the City's Animal Control Program. Currently we employ thirty-three authorized sworn police officers, twenty full-time and five part-time civilian employees, six volunteer reserve officers, and eleven civilian volunteers. Because we are a small police department, our organization is designed to be sufficiently flexible to allow members from each division to work with each other and share some types of duties. Our goal is to provide the best possible service to our community with whatever resources are available to us. In addition, we rely upon and support many community government and non-profit organizations, service clubs, and neighborhood and individual volunteers, to employ problem-solving strategies, operate graffiti wipeout and surveillance programs and a community curfew program.
